Welcome to our home movie film digitizing page!
How does it work?
The process is quite unique and pretty time-consuming. AMS uses the latest state-of-the-art technology and laser guided equipment for this particular task (see it here). Nobody will deliver a more precise and sharper image true to the original than AMS. Our founder even flew to Holland to watch the transfer unit being assembled and packed for shipment. To our knowledge, AMS is using the only sprocket less transfer system in the US that is shooting every frame in 1080 hi-definition and then converts it to a digital file for viewing or editing.

What does it cost?
Incorporating new technology to achieve superior image quality has its price…every frame is being "shot" and digitized. For a 50 ft roll of super 8mm film for instance, the shutter opens over 4000 times and it takes almost 40 minutes to process a 50ft reel. What is a fair, hourly rate for a business? 100…150 Dollars just to stay "in business"? AMS is proud to have a diversified array of services and has considerably "scaled down" the monetary expectation to an affordable level:
HD digitizing on our advanced sprocket less transfer unit is only 42cents per foot. This rate is for silent film only. If there is an additional soundtrack to be transferred from regular 8 or super 8mm film, then there is an additional cost of 20cents a foot that has to be added to the 40cent per foot price.
